Women in Print is an exhibition of work by sixteen designers, print-makers and illustrators that celebrates the life and achievements of sixteen iconic female figures who've made a significant contribution to Manchester. The amazing woman I was given was Dr Kathleen Drew-Baker, a British phycologist who specialised in the research of edible seaweed and algae. In Japan she is known as "Mother of the Sea" as her research helped save the nori industry.
In my piece I wanted to capture the essence of the "Mother of the Sea"- the woman herself, and the legacy she left behind.
